It can be confusing having a web site built with all the unfamiliar terms and acronyms, you've heard them all for sure, but don't have a definitive handle on what they all mean. So we have compiled a glossary of the most important terms you need to know.

Domain Name

SEO - Search Engine optimisation
SEO is the process of improving the volume or quality of traffic to a web site from search engines.
SES - Search Engine Submission
SES is the process of physically submitting the site to the search engines so they can then index the site. It is imperative to make sites “search engine friendly” this is accomplished by ensuring sites are valid & accessible.
CMS
Content Management Systems are designed to simplify the publication of web content for site owners who can submit content without requiring any technical knowledge.
URL
Uniform Resource Locator The global address of documents and other resources on the World Wide Web
PPC
Pay per Click Is an Internet advertising model used on websites in which, advertisers pay their host only when their ad is clicked.
Email Template

Google AdWords
A pre-paid service. You create an ad with keywords relating to your business. When people search Google using your keywords, your ad may appear alongside the search results. You only pay when your ad is clicked. Not when the ad is displayed.
Organic search Results
Are listings on search engine results pages that appear because of their relevance to the search terms as opposed to their being adverts.
Favicon
Favourites icon that appears before the site url in the address bar at the top of the browser window. This helps promote brand recognition
Avatar / Gravatar
An Avatar is a graphical representation of the the user or the users alter ego. Gravatar Globally recognised Avatar an image that follows you from site to site appearing beside your name when you do things like comment or post on a blog. Avatars help identify your posts on blogs and web forums.
