Fat Cat Scholey Shoots Lion for fun

I was sickened when I read on Saturday about millionaire banker Sir David Scholey shooting a lion for fun. I really didn’t think they’re were anymore selfish throw backs to the time of the Empire when bored British aristocrats hunted and killed large animals for fun and their own self gratification. What kind of example is this knight of the garter sending out to the youth of Britain. It comes to something when hoodies can take the moral high ground “Sellin’ drugs and doin’ shit is wrong, but killing a Lion for fun is just evil”. I think the former banker and BBC director should be stripped of his knighthood and thrown in the Tower.

Points we need to outline are:

• Why have rules in place if they are not inforced
• If they new there was a problem as far back as 2008, why hasn’t something been done
• Rough estimate of how many we are. Then go on to say we have been let down by various bodies that are supposed to be in place to stop large companies conning cosumers. We have had to fight this alone.
• As found by a CISAS ajudicator Orange had broken GC 23

Rice and pasta portion weights

I don’t about you, but I always do too much or not enough rice or pasta. So I thought I’d Google it and find out. So whenever I need to know I will only have to look on my own blog. After a few times it should be etched indelably in my brain. I will not use the stupid measurement of cups. I hate it when you get a recipe that says 3 cups of this 2 cups of that and 1 cup of the other. How big’s the fuckin’ cup?

Here we go.

Rice: about 100g per person when served as an accompaniment.

Pasta: about 125g as a main meal, less if it’s a starter.

I would like to know what Martin O’Neil is thinking ahead of today’s clash with Chelsea. Villa are just 2pts off bottom club Wolves, will probably, no definately get beaten today! (Chelsea won 7-1 last season) Villa are in big trouble! We are  a serious relegation contender. Last season we were a serious Champions League contender, how things can change.

 We were the ultimate steady eddies finishing 6th in three consectutives seasons, a firm foundation on which to build future success. Then when the manager requests funds to be available to build on his success he is turned down. Martin O’Neil was forced out of Villa! A decision what every Villa fan is surely now regretting.

Deliciously decadent Chocolate Tart

This makes enough for a 10 inch tin with some left over to do some individual mousses.

You will need for the base:

• Half pack of Digestives
• 100g Butter
• 2 – 3 desert spoons Cocoa Powder

You will need for the filling: (This is nicked from a Nigella recipe)

• 250g Dark Chocolate
• 150g Marsh Mallows chopped small
• 50g Butter
• 284ml Double Cream
• 60ml Hot Water

OK, let’s make this baby. First off crush the biscuits and add the cocoa powder. Melt the butter in a heavy saucepan, when melted add the biscuit mixture. Stir well.

Now chuck it all in yer tin, use a spoon to pat the crumb base up the sides of the tin. Refridgerate whle you make the filling.

Put the chocolate, marsh mallows, butter and water in a bowl and heat gently over a pan of boiling water (bain marie) stiring occasionaly.

Whilst keeping an eye on the stove, start to whip the cream till stiff.

When chocolate mixture is melted and of a smooth consistency fold in the cream and pour into your crumb base which should now be set. Any mixture left over pour into glasses for the individual mousses. Now chill for a couple of hours.

To decorate you can dust with cocoa powder or grated white  or dark chocolate. Alternatively use all three and be totally decadent.

Well what has happened to Villa lately. We beat local rivals West Brom “thank god” I know we’ve had a lot on injuries, which has given some young talent a chance to shine most notably Marc Albighton and Barry Bannan, also the departure of Martin O’Neil at the beginning of the season could be the reason for Villa’s hopefully temporary decline. New manager Gerard Houllier has yet to make his mark. The jury is still out on that one. All I can say is every great unbeaten run is preceded by a defeat.

The complete cast of The Disappearance of Alice Creed

Just watched The Disapperance of Alice Creed starring Gemma Artherton as Alice Creed, the brilliant Eddie Marsan as Vic and Martin Compston as Danny and that’s the complete cast. It had no action, no breathtaking stunts, no big star names… it was brilliant. It did have a great plot with loads of twists, great dialogue and great acting. Vic and Danny kidnap Alice. I won’t say anymore. Watch the film you won’t be disappointed.

The first book in the Millenium Trilogy by Steig Larsson. I thought it was a brillaint fast paced thriller, with excellent original characters. Lisbeth Salander is anti-social computer hacker, that you won’t want to mess with. Her apparent self loathing manifests itself in her kick ass fuck you attitude. I thought it was a superb read. I am currently reading the second instalment: The Girl who Played with Fire…..

Internet Movie Database

If there was only one positive thing to come out of the Internet it surely must be imdb The Internet Movie Database.

How many times have we all said things like “What have I seen him/her in?” or “whose that? Where do I do them from?” Then there’s the minor family disputes “Oh they played such and such in thingy on Some channel”.

I must have some mild form of ASD, because in the days before the Internet, those type of questions would drive me mad. Every person I met I’d ask the question, that, at that time was infuriating me. What is it with this need to know? I don’t know! Anyway a cures been found for my perculiar affliction and it’s called the Internet Movie Database (imdb) Not only does it cover films but soaps, comedies, mini-series you name it, if it’s got actors in it it’s on imdb. You can search by program title or actors name and it dutifully supplies you with the answers. Oh what a relief. Thank you imdb.
